Half term is nearly here, and we've got a whole week of family fun lined up on the railway! Whether your little ones love playing with trains, getting creative or dressing up for a spooky adventure, there's something for everyone at the GWSR this October. And it's all included with the price of your ticket! You can book a Day Rover ticket online up to a day in advance, which lets you hop on and off as you please all day. You can also buy in person at one of our four staffed ticket offices at Cheltenham, Winchcombe, Toddington or Broadway, and make as many journeys as you like on the day.

Trainmaster Kids' Playtime
Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026 (Tim Mitchell Building, Winchcombe Station)
Your train ticket includes unlimited steam train travel and free entry to hands-on, railway-themed fun. Think train sets, tracks, tunnels and interactive activities, with kids' imaginations running wild for hours!
Want to come along but don't want to ride the train? No problem you can buy platform tickets on the day which will let you get access to all the activities at Winchcombe!
Autumn Crafts
Tuesday 27th, Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th October 2026 (Tim Mitchell Building, Winchcombe Station)
Get creative this autumn! From colouring to seasonal crafts, there's plenty to keep young minds busy and the whole family can involved. Pair it with a relaxing steam train journey through the Cotswolds for the perfect half term day out.
Want to come along but don't want to ride the train? No problem you can buy platform tickets on the day which will let you get access to all the activities on Winchcombe!

Teddy Bear Thursday

Join us for a magical day out as our Teddy Bear Picnic Trains return to the GWSR! Bring your favourite cuddly friend and enjoy a relaxed steam-train journey with beautiful views across the Cotswolds - perfect for our younger travellers and their families.
Wizarding Weekend
Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November 2026
Calling all young witches and wizards! Dig out your robes, grab your wand and come dressed as your favourite witch, wizard or magical creature for a spellbinding ride on our steam trains. There'll be magical activities, activity sheets to complete and lots of spooky fun along the way. It's the perfect way to celebrate Halloween weekend for your little ones!
