GWSR are pleased to announce that Bulleid Pacific No. 34070 Manston will be joining us for an extended stay, The GWSR wishes to express its gratitude to the Swanage Railway and Southern locomotives ltd for their assistance in releasing their locomotive and making this happen.

No. 229 'Coffeepot'

No. 229 'Coffeepot' was built in 1876 for shunting goods yards in London, No. 229 later found a remarkable second life after being sold to the Admiralty in 1917, spending decades working the dockyards at Chepstow.

Following decades of dereliction and a subsequent cosmetic restoration, 2026 will mark its first season hauling passenger trains — quite possibly for the first time since it was built!

23–25 May - Come and see this unique little engine in action on selected passenger services, plus shunting demonstrations at Winchcombe.

No. 15189

Caledonian Railway ‘439’ Class No. 419, now turned out in its striking LMS crimson livery as No. 15189.

Making the journey south courtesy of our friends at Bo’ness and the SRPS, this enthusiast favourite will be a very welcome return visitor to the Cotswolds, following its last appearance in 2019. Even better, this will be its first visit away from home since its recent repaint, making it a particularly special sight for gala visitors.

BR Standard Class 2 No. 78022

Making a very rare appearance away from Yorkshire, and its first visit away from home since returning to steam in 2018, this is a real “cop” for the 2026 Cotswold Festival of Steam. In its smart lined green livery, 78022 will look perfectly at home in the Cotswolds.

GWR Railcar No. 22

Visiting the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway this season is GWR Railcar No. 22 from Didcot Railway Centre.

This distinctive 1940s railcar has been touring a number of heritage railways and is only in the Cotswolds for a limited time. The Cotswold Festival of Steam gala will mark its final weekend with us before it moves on to its next destination—so be sure to make the most of travelling on it while you can!

BR Black 5 No. 45110

We are delighted to announce our mystery guest for this weekend’s Cotswold Festival of Steam Gala, BR 4-6-0 Black 5 No. 45110, appearing courtesy of West Coast Railways.

This locomotive has a remarkable place in railway history, having featured in the final days of BR steam in 1968, including hauling the “Fifteen Guinea Special” - the train that marked the end of steam on the British main line.
