The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway’s annual Summer Heritage Diesel Gala is all set to go this coming weekend with the diesel fleet firing on all cylinders for an action packed three days between the 12th and 14th July. Final preparations are underway with the home locomotive line-up being bolstered with the arrival of the previously announced Sulzer Type 2 / British Rail Class 26 No. 5310. The Welsh based ‘Sulzer’ arrived safely at the railway’s motive power depot at Toddington on Tuesday 9th July, and is appearing courtesy of the Llangollen Railway and The Llangollen Diesel Group.

A host of exhibitors and traders are all set to participate over the weekend with those confirmed including Cheltenham Model Centre, Jill's Trains, Pixel Shack, Pathfinder Railtours, Rail Image Collections, The Growler Group, Cotswold Mainline Diesel Group (CMDG), The Ivatt Diesel Recreation Society, and The GWR Trust (GWRT).

Tickets for the summer diesel gala are available online at www.gwsr.com. With up to nine diesel locomotives including 5310, freshly outshopped 20228 (operating with classmate 20137), and a diesel multiple unit (DMU) running*, it will offer an action-packed timetable of trains. The locomotive and carriage & wagon workshops will throw open their doors for rare behind-the-scenes visits and there will be plenty of other activity at the railway’s picturesque period stations.
