Broadway Area Group – Volunteering at Broadway Station Site
article by: John Blofield
Work started at the site of the demolished station at Broadway
in March 2009, and so far (Jan 2013) has concentrated mainly on
rebuilding the platforms. When sufficient funding becomes available
there will be the station building, signal box, toilet block and
car park to construct. How much of this will be done by volunteers
and how much by contractors is as yet undecided. Some of our
volunteers have experience in building and project management.
Others have basic DIY skills, and have learned new skills on the
job, so don't let a lack of relevant expertise put you off joining
us. There is also some scope for less physically demanding work
such as gardening or maintaining our contacts in the local area. We
normally work on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so if you are interested
in joining us pop along to the Broadway station site and have a
chat. A blog detailing our activities can be found at: http://broadwaygwsr.blogspot.co.uk/
