A sponsored walk will take place along the track bed between Toddington Station and the site of Broadway Station on Sunday 15th August 2010 at 10.00am. All proceeds will be used to help fund projects related to the extension north of Toddington.  

 

The walk will be along the track bed between Toddington Station and Broadway Station, including the rare opportunity to view and walk over Stanway Viaduct. 

You will also be able to view developments related to the northern extension, including the superb new bridge at Laverton, and it is hoped to have members of the Permanent Way department available to answer questions.  

 

The walk will commence at Toddington Station at 10.00am. Everyone is welcome to participate, but please do remember that this is a sponsored event. We do hope you will want to complete the full ten mile round walk, although transport back to Toddington from Broadway could be arranged for those who only wish to attempt a five mile walk.  It is hoped to have water available at Laverton and refreshments at Broadway Station site.  

 

There are a number of ways in which you could help to make this event a success:  

 

• Take part yourself and get friends and family to sponsor you 
• Sponsor someone whom you know will be taking part, or alternatively sponsor the chairman 
• Make a donation  
• Anyone who donates £10 or more is asked to estimate the average time of the first 20 walkers. The nearest estimate wins a £20 GWR gift voucher 

 

If you do intend to join us, please remember that the majority of the walk is on ballasted railway track bed, so please do wear appropriate clothing and stout boots or shoes.
