Car plunges onto track at Southam

Three people had a lucky escape from their car when it plunged onto the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway's track below the Southam Lane bridge, bringing train services for 2011 to an abrupt halt.

A raffle of a watercolour by Badsey artist Ian Gibson, showing an auto-train at Broadway in the 1960s, raised a very worthwhile £650 towards the rebuilding of Broadway station.

At an award ceremony at Merchant Taylor’s Hall in Threadneedle Street, London on 7th December, the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway was presented with the Ian Allan Publishing Heritage Railway of the Year Award, 2011.
