When you visit GWR175 this weekend, take a look in the main marquee. There before your eyes will be a whole history of the Great Western Railway and British Railways Western Region told in nameplates, number plates, station totems – and every Western Region shed plate!

Bus service for GWR175

We’re delighted to confirm that there will be a bus service from Cheltenham Network Rail station to Toddington during GWR175. This has been organised following the landslip near Gotherington which means that Cheltenham Racecourse station has had to be closed for the time being.

Make sure you tune in to BBC 1 ‘Countryfile’ on Sunday evening, 23rd May and you’ll find about six minutes of this prime-time show devoted to your favourite railway. On Wednesday, the railway will also feature on BBC Radio 5 Live while if you buy the next edition of our GWR175 media partner, The Railway Magazine (July edition on sale next week) you’ll find the Honeybourne Line featured on the free DVD attached to the cover!

In association with the North Cotswold branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), the railway’s second Beer Festival is happening this coming weekend. With 20 beers and ciders on offer – as well as food and drinks – this is an event that combines two of life’s real pleasures – enjoying a decent pint and watching the trains go by! And for those who wish to leave the car at home on Saturday, a special bus service will operate from Cheltenham.
