BBC Countryfile presenter Katie Knapman and crew spent a day at
the Honeybourne Line on Monday 26th April to capture
scenes for a programme to be broadcast shortly, celebrating the
175th anniversary of the Great Western Railway.
Those 'starring' in the programme included freshly-painted no. 3717
City of Truro (which still had some wet paint!), footplate crew
George Forrest and Paul Stratford; David Shepherd; Geoff White
(former BR(W) Leamington and Old Oak Common fireman), Felicity
Jones, curator of STEAM, Museum of the Great Western Railway, all
telling the story of the Great Western and the present-day oasis of
Great Western steam on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire
Railway.
Enjoy this little gallery from the day - and look out for
Countryfile (Sundays, 6.15pm BBC 1) when GWR175 will be celebrated
within the programme. We'll post the date on this website as
soon as we know it.
