GWR175, 29th May to 6th June, is going to be quite an event.  Apart from the obvious Great Western locomotives, or locomotives that have a link with Swindon, there will be plenty of other things to do.  For example, the GWR175 team is aiming to have as many Great Western classes represented and in steam as possible - even if they are 3½, 5 or 7¼in gauge.  Or even bigger, we are expecting at least one 10½ in gauge loco, and even a 15in gauge one is possible…

The team is also hoping to have a huge display of Great Western nameplates over the first weekend, 29th -31st May from as many classes as possible.  It's hoped to have nameplates representing local places, such as Toddington Grange, Sudeley Castle, Dumbleton Hall, Elmley Castle, Hatherley Hall, Bibury Court and so-on.  And the following weekend will feature be a display of BR(W) station totems and shed plates, as well as cabside numbers.

Over GWR175 you will have a chance to have your own railway artefacts valued.  Whether station lamps, train tickets, signalbox equipment, bridge, wagon or locomotive plates, GWR-monogrammed china or cutlery - if you can bring it, then we can give you an idea of its value.

You might even want to auction something off as we will be organising a small railwayana auction during the event.

Please note, insurance and 24-hour security will be in place.

Do you have something you'd like to display or have valued or auctioned? If so click the links below to drop us a line, telling us what you have that you would to see at Toddington over the celebrations.  We'll respond with details of how you can take part.

If you have a Great Western Railway or British Railways Western Region model you would like to either display or steam, click this link

If you have a Great Western Railway or BR(W) locomotive nameplate, number plate, shed plate or station totem, click this link

    Hi Ian
I e-mailed you on 12 and 27 September last year sending photos of 92203 and also asking if there was likely to be a request at the GWR175 Gala for any of my many loco headboards. The visiting locos are not quite finalised according to the website but it looks as though there will not be many active locos that would have carried headboards. 7903 will be one but maybe John Cruxon will want to use his CORNISHMAN or CHELTENHAM SPA EXPRESS headboard instead of mine. I wonder if you would like to put any of mine on display or fit one to the static Earl Bathurst. The rather rare one of course is the CHELTENHAM FLYER one. I have been making a headboard to be fitted to 2807 (not in the Gala) and have almost finished it. If we do use any of mine I need to make sure their condition is OK. I have both versions of the CORNISHMAN and CHELTENHAM SPA EXPRESS, CHELTENHAM FLYER, CATHEDRALS EXPRESS and PINES EXPRESS which may be relevant. Please let me know if you want any.
    All the best, Eddie Roberts

    Dear Sirs
I have a cabside numberplate from a 94xx GWR tank engine number 8487 which spent almost all its life as a Gloucester engine before being called to Old Oak Common to work ECS in and out of Paddington.
I exxpect its too late for you to loan this plate for the 175 celebrations but if you do or in the future please let me know, I live in Brockworth, Gloucester and my telephone number is 01452 547066.
    Regards.
    David Bourne
