GWR175, 29th May to 6th June, is going to
be quite an event. Apart from the obvious Great Western
locomotives, or locomotives that have a link with Swindon, there
will be plenty of other things to do. For example, the GWR175
team is aiming to have as many Great Western classes represented
and in steam as possible - even if they are 3½, 5 or 7¼in
gauge. Or even bigger, we are expecting at least one 10½ in
gauge loco, and even a 15in gauge one is possible…
The team is also hoping to have a huge display of Great Western
nameplates over the first weekend, 29th -31st
May from as many classes as possible. It's hoped to have
nameplates representing local places, such as Toddington
Grange, Sudeley Castle, Dumbleton Hall, Elmley Castle, Hatherley
Hall, Bibury Court and so-on. And the following weekend
will feature be a display of BR(W) station totems and shed plates,
as well as cabside numbers.
Over GWR175 you will have a chance to have your own railway
artefacts valued. Whether station lamps, train tickets,
signalbox equipment, bridge, wagon or locomotive plates,
GWR-monogrammed china or cutlery - if you can bring it, then we can
give you an idea of its value.
You might even want to auction something off as we will be
organising a small railwayana auction during the
event.
Please note, insurance and 24-hour security will be in
place.
Do you have something you'd like to display or have
valued or auctioned? If so click the links below to drop us a line,
telling us what you have that you would to see at Toddington over
the celebrations. We'll respond with details of how you can
take part.
